SUSTAINABILITY AT KASEYA CENTER

SUSTAINABILITY AT KASEYA CENTER

Through innovative stewardship, the Miami HEAT and Kaseya Center are dedicated to fostering a more sustainable and resilient Miami by pioneering creative solutions that protect our environment and enhance the well-being of our community for future generations.

Our sustainability efforts are rooted in 4 key areas:

ACTIVATE THE VENUE

Recyclables & Waste Management

Milestones in Our Progress Towards Sustainability:

  • Diverted 1.1 million pounds of materials from the landfill during summer 2024’s extensive Arena renovation.
  • Placed two-bin waste receptacles throughout the concourse, providing guests with a recycling option.
  • Partnered with Ball Packaging, LLC to bring over 600,000 reusable, infinitely recyclable aluminum cups to Kaseya Center concessions.
  • Partnered with NO DAYS OFF Premium Water to feature their recyclable, aluminum-canned water through Kaseya Center premium spaces, including lounges, 601 and Courtside Club.

Putting Our Values Into Action Today:

  • Diverting over 40% of venue waste from landfills via composting, sorting, recycling, reusing and donating. A portion of that compost will be regularly repurposed and donated as soil to Baptist Health Homestead Hospital’s Grow2Heal community garden.

Our Future Sustainability Commitments:

  • Increase our waste diversion rate to 50%
  • Reduce single-use plastic usage by 40%

Energy Efficiency & Water Conservation

Milestones in Our Progress Towards Sustainability:

  • Established potable and non-potable water lines for venue irrigation and maintenance.
  • Designed our AT&T East Plaza space to include a solar canopy to showcase renewable energy.

Putting Our Values Into Action Today:

  • Measuring and reporting annual water and energy usage, and GHG Emissions.
  • Reducing air conditioning run time on non-event days without disrupting occupant comfort.

Our Future Sustainability Commitments:

  • Reduce energy consumption by 10% on non-event days.
  • Continue our venue-wide conversion to low-flow/waterless fixtures, LED lighting and occupancy sensor technology.
  • Explore additional on-site renewable energy options.

Culinary Responsibility

  • Composted over 112,000 pounds of food waste and donated nearly 7,000 pounds of unserved food via the Re-HEAT Program—the equivalent of approximately 5,720 meals.
  • Provide guests with plant-based culinary options at HEAT games and Arena events.
  • Commit to sourcing 100% of our produce from the state of Florida.

VITALIZE THE COMMUNITY

Create Impact Through Partnerships
